App Store Screenshot Ideas for a Beginner Gym App
September 30, 2026 · 5 min read
The first screenshot is the only one many people read. For a beginner gym app, it should answer "is this for me?" before it shows a feature.
See how Alma automates this
The short report on how Alma turns an app link into posts that go out every day.
Read the carousel reportA simple order
- Who it's for. "Your first month in the gym." Not the logo.
- The fear. "Every workout tells you the machine, the weight to start with, and when to stop."
- Today's session. A real screen of one workout, short enough to read on a phone.
- How a week looks. Three days, not a bodybuilding split.
- Proof of care. "No shame if you miss a day. The plan just continues."
Write the words big
Screenshot text is a headline, not a paragraph. If you need a sentence to explain the sentence, cut it. Show the app behind the words so the page does not look like an ad with no product.
What beginners look for and do not find
They look for permission to be new. Screenshots full of personal records, advanced lifts, and dense charts tell them the app is for someone else. Save the charts for a later screenshot, after you have said the app will coach the first week.
Check it on a phone, not a laptop
Read only screenshot one with the app name covered. If you cannot tell who it is for, rewrite that frame before you touch the rest. Your social posts should repeat the same promise, so the store page feels like the next sentence of the video, not a different product.
