HOW I AUTOMATED MY MARKETING
5 steps, from years of time I lost with my dad, to something I still don’t fully believe.

1. I LOST YEARS WITH MY DAD TO MARKETING
I was a kid the first time I made an ad for him. He’d come home tired, sit at the kitchen table, and ask me to help him put something together before the week started. I didn’t know anything about marketing. I just knew that when we posted, the phone rang, and when we didn’t, it went quiet.
He wasn’t a genius marketer. He just never stopped showing up. Year after year, that was the whole secret. But I watched what it cost him. Every ad took hours we didn’t have, on nights that should have been family time, evenings we never got back.
Years later I got serious about marketing myself, and started making AI-generated video ads, thinking that was the future. The results were flat. Every clip looked like the same AI slop everyone else was already posting, and I was close to giving up on the whole idea.
2. THEN I HEARD THE HEAD OF INSTAGRAM SAY SOMETHING THAT STOPPED ME COLD

Head of Instagram
I stumbled on an interview where the head of Instagram basically said carousels were quietly taking over. A study of Instagram posts backed it up: on a per-reach basis, carousels were pulling a 6.90% median engagement rate, nearly double Reels at 3.31%.
I remember sitting there thinking about every hour I’d spent on the old format. I killed everything I had planned that week and went all-in on carousels instead.
3. BUT EVERYTHING I TRIED WAS SLOW, UGLY, OR BOTH
I went looking for anything that could make this easier. What I found were tools that took longer than doing it by hand, and templates that looked like everyone else’s.
I was still opening Instagram and TikTok every single day, still scheduling by hand, still losing hours I could have spent actually running the business.

4. SO WE RAISED FUNDING, BUILT A REAL TEAM, AND BUILT IT PROPERLY
I was tired of AI slop, tired of tools that made everything look the same. So I put together a pitch, raised funding, and brought on a team to build it right. It took about a year. The posts won’t match what a top agency makes, but they do the job that matters most: showing up consistently, at a fraction of the cost.
5. THEN ONE POST DID SOMETHING I STILL DON’T FULLY BELIEVE
We tested it on a client’s sleep app I genuinely wasn’t sure anyone would care about. One post got 100 million views and brought in thousands of paying users.

I stared at that number for a long time thinking it was a glitch. It wasn’t. That’s when I knew this wasn’t just something that worked for me.
If you run a business, try it. If you know someone who does, send this to them.
