Hooks for a Gym Progress Photo App

September 30, 2026 · 5 min read

Progress-photo apps are easy to make creepy by accident. The person you want is not looking for a public before-and-after. They want a private record they can stand to take.

See how Alma automates this

The short report on how Alma turns an app link into posts that go out every day.

Hooks

  • "Same lighting. Same pose. That's the whole method."
  • "You don't have to post it. You have to be able to find it in 90 days."
  • "Take it on day 1, before you feel ready."
  • "The photo you skip is the one you wish you had."
  • "Clothes, time of day, room. Pick them once."
  • "A bad angle you repeat beats a flattering angle you change."
  • "What to do with a photo you hate today."
  • "Compare month to month, not Monday to Tuesday."

How to build the slideshow

Slide one is the hook. Slide two is the rule. Slide three is the mistake (new mirror, new shirt, sucked-in stomach). Slide four is the app: private by default, reminders, side by side. Say "private" if it is true. If photos can be shared, say that too.

Do not do this

Do not use a stranger's body as the example. Do not promise what the photos will look like in 12 weeks. The product is the record, not the result. People download it when the post makes taking the picture feel ordinary.
