How to Monetize an App on the Play Store

September 30, 2026 · 5 min read

Google Play will bill for you. You still have to decide what is for sale and tell the truth in the listing.

Use Play Billing for digital goods

Subscriptions and one-time products inside the app go through Google's billing if they are digital. Read the current fee and the rules this month. Do not copy a blog's percentage. It changes.

Make the listing match the price

The short description should say what they get and whether it is a subscription. A "free" badge on a locked app is how reviews go bad.

Market the paid outcome, not the package name

Alma can draft slideshows from your Play listing or site and schedule them. The last slide should match the short description. $29/month for 500 slides, or $199/month with no cap.

Make the posts for your app

Paste your App Store or website link. Alma writes, designs and schedules the slideshows.

Test the purchase on a real device

A sandbox success is not a customer. Buy it, cancel it, and restore it. If cancel is buried, you will hear about it in public.

Country matters

If your users are not in your default country, set the price and the language there before you spend a month posting in the wrong place.
