Google Play Store Search Optimization

September 30, 2026 · 5 min read

On Google Play, searchers see your title, your icon, and the start of your short description. That is the optimization. The long description is for people who already tapped.

Use the words from posts that people saved

If a slideshow says "split the dinner," the short description should be able to say that. Alma is where you find which line people keep, because you can schedule a week of them and watch. $29/month for 500 slides, or $199/month with no cap.

Make the posts for your app

Paste your App Store or website link. Alma writes, designs and schedules the slideshows.

Start in Make

Write the short description as a sentence

The job, who it is for, and whether it costs money. Not a company history. Those characters are the ad inside search.

Make screenshot one a headline

Readable on a phone. Same promise as the short description. A collage of six features loses to one line.

Change one thing

Play's listing experiments can test a screenshot. Do not rewrite the title, the icon, and the video on the same day. You will not know what helped.

Translate the short description before the brand site

If your users search in another language, that line is the one that has to exist. A perfect English essay will not be what they typed.
