Hooks for a Bill Splitting App
September 30, 2026 · 5 min read
Bill splitting is a social problem that looks like a math problem. The hook should name the group, not the calculator.

The short report on how Alma turns an app link into posts that go out every day.

- "The roommate who Venmos three weeks later."
- "Trip expenses when one person booked the apartment."
- "Dinner for six, two people didn't drink, one person ordered steak."
- "Stop keeping it in a notes app you will lose."
- "Who owes whom, in one screen, without a speech."
- "The group chat where money goes to die."
- "A shared list that doesn't require everyone to love spreadsheets."
- "Settle up before the friendship gets weird."
Show the awkward case
Equal split is easy and often wrong. If your app handles shares, show the dinner example. If it only does even splits, say that, and do not demo a case you cannot calculate.
Last slide
"Start the trip before you spend, not after." People download splitting apps in the taxi home, then abandon them. The post that wins is the one they see the morning they leave.
