How to Get the First 100 Users for a Habit Tracker
September 30, 2026 · 6 min read
The first 100 users of a habit tracker do not come from a brand campaign. They come from one habit people are already trying to do this week.
Make the posts for your app
Paste your App Store or website link. Alma writes, designs and schedules the slideshows.
Start in MakePick the habit, not the app
"Build better habits" is the category. The post has to be narrower:
- Reading 10 pages before bed
- No phone for the first hour
- A walk after lunch
- Not drinking on weeknights
You can support more habits inside the app. The posts that get the first users only talk about one.
Go where that attempt is already happening
Search TikTok and Reddit for the habit in the person's words, not yours. Reply and post in that language. A slideshow called "Day 1 of leaving the phone in the kitchen" belongs in front of people who said they want that, not on a general productivity tag with no humans on it.
Give them a reason to open it tonight
The last slide is a first action, not a feature list. "Add one habit. Set it for after you brush your teeth. That's the setup." If setup takes a tour of twelve screens, the post will not survive contact with the app. Fix the first run before you spend a month writing content.
Ask for the 100 directly
Tell friends who are doing the habit, people who replied to a post, and one small community you are actually in. A short note beats a blast: what the app does, who it is for, the link. Count store installs, not likes. When you hit people who came from a specific hook, make more posts like that hook only.
