How to Market a Social Media App
September 30, 2026 · 5 min read
A social app with no one in it cannot be marketed as if it were busy. People open it, see silence, and leave a review you cannot outrun.
Fill one room before you tell the internet
One school, one city, one group chat you are actually in. They need to see posts from people when they join. You may have to seed the first conversations yourself, in the open, as yourself.
Explain the difference in a slideshow
If you are not another infinite feed, say the actual rule: one post a day, only friends of friends, disappearing notes. Alma can turn that rule into scheduled slideshows on TikTok and Instagram, which is where people already scroll. $29/month for 500 slides, or $199/month with no cap.
Make the posts for your app
Paste your App Store or website link. Alma writes, designs and schedules the slideshows.
Start in MakeInvite in pairs
One user is a ghost. Two who know each other might post. Ask each person to bring one.
Do not buy users
They will not talk to each other. The room will look popular for a day and dead after, which is worse than looking small.
Widen only when the small room posts without you
That is the product working. A national ad before that is how you scale the silence.
