How to Market an Indie Game

September 30, 2026 · 5 min read

Indie games get found when someone wants to try a moment, not when they read a feature list.

Show the moment

Ten seconds of the fail, the puzzle, or the choice. Captions on. If you only have screenshots, a slideshow can still explain one rule of the game. Alma drafts those from your store link and schedules them. The moving clip still matters for a game. Use both. $29/month for 500 slides, or $199/month with no cap.

Make the posts for your app

Paste your App Store or website link. Alma writes, designs and schedules the slideshows.

Start in Make

Say what kind of game it is in the first line

"A puzzle about missing the bus" beats "a unique indie experience." The store subtitle should be allowed to say the same thing.

Post where players already are, once

One Discord or one subreddit that allows it. Show the moment. Do not paste the link in ten places the same day.

Wishlist or install is the ask

Steam wishlist or the store link, whichever is true today. Do not send people to a landing page with no button.

Do not buy installs or wishlists

They do not play. Your next real player sees a dead game and a weird chart. Repeat the post that made a real person start a level.
