How to Price Your App
September 30, 2026 · 5 min read
A price is a test you can run this week. It is not a formula.
Start from what they do today
A coach, a spreadsheet, an hour, another app. If you replace a paid hour, do not copy a free game's price. If you replace a note that already works, a high price is a fantasy until the note hurts.
Pick one number and one period
Monthly and annual is enough if it is a subscription. One purchase is enough if the tool keeps working. Check the store's current commission so the number still makes sense after the cut. Do not invent a third plan to look clever.
Say it on the store page and in a post
Alma can draft the slideshow. You put the real price in the last slide so the post and the paywall match. $29/month for 500 slides, or $199/month with no cap.
Make the posts for your app
Paste your App Store or website link. Alma writes, designs and schedules the slideshows.
Start in MakeShow it to ten people who have the job
Not friends who want you to feel good. The useful reply is "that is fair if it does X." Silence or a laugh means the job or the number is wrong.
Change it for new people only
When you raise it, tell current customers they keep the old price for a while. Do not coupon the first ten. You will not learn the real price.
