What to Post for an App That Teaches Slang

September 30, 2026 · 5 min read

Slang apps go stale or offensive on a delay. The post needs a source, a speaker, and a warning about where the word does not belong.

Make the posts for your app

Paste your App Store or website link. Alma writes, designs and schedules the slideshows.

A fair structure

  1. The phrase, as people actually type it.
  2. Who says it, and in which language variety. "Teenagers in Mexico City" is useful. "Latinos" is not.
  3. A situation where it fits.
  4. A situation where it will make the learner sound like they are mocking someone.
  5. The year or the note "this moves fast," so you are not pretending it is grammar.

Where the phrases come from

Take them from public speech you understand, or from contributors you credit and pay. Do not scrape a community you are not in and sell it back. If you cannot name who uses a phrase, do not teach it.

What the comments are for

Native speakers will argue. Leave the post up only if you can defend the context. Update the slide when you are wrong. A slang app that never edits is a textbook with worse timing.

Post less often than a vocab app. One careful phrase a few times a week beats a daily post you cannot stand behind.
