Best Ways to Get Users for an App Without Ads
September 30, 2026 · 6 min read
Ads are optional. The ways below work with time instead of a media budget. They work better if you pick one kind of user and talk only to them.
1. Alma — a post a day that ends on the install
Best for: the first users, before you know which hook is worth paying to promote.
A slideshow that names the problem, shows the steps, and ends on the app is the cheapest repeatable way to be seen. Alma makes those from your store link and schedules them. You keep the ones that match the app and drop the rest.
Pricing: $29/month for 500 slides, or $199/month with no cap.

People already typing "budget app" or "puppy potty" are closer to an install than a stranger on the For You page. Put their phrase in the title or subtitle, and make the first screenshot answer it.
3. One community where the problem is already being discussed
A subreddit, a Facebook group, a Discord for that job. Be useful first. Link the app when it answers the post they wrote. Do not paste the same link five times.
4. A landing path with one button
Bio, caption, and last slide all go to the same store page. If you send them through a link tree, you are spending the attention you just earned.
5. Asking the people who already use it
A review, a forward to one friend with the same problem, a screenshot they were going to send anyway. This is slow and it is real.
Run the daily posts for 30 days before you buy ads. Ads scale a message. They do not invent one.
