Best Ways to Market a Subscription App
September 30, 2026 · 6 min read
A subscription app marketed like a free toy attracts people who will not pay. The posts have to mention the job they are paying for.
1. Alma posts that include the paid outcome
Do not post generic tips and hope the paywall explains itself. The slideshow should say what the subscriber gets: the plan every week, the export, the history, the second seat. Alma writes those from your app link. Edit the price line so it matches the real plan. Then schedule them.
Pricing: $29/month for 500 slides, or $199/month with no cap.

If the price is a surprise on day three, the marketing worked and the product felt like a trick. First screenshot: who it is for and what they pay for.
3. A paywall after one success, not before any use
Let them finish one useful action. Then ask. The posts should promise that same action, so the app matches the ad they just believed.
4. Annual and monthly, both visible
Say both numbers. Hide nothing in small type. People who pay a subscription are trusting you to still be here.
5. More posts about the job, not about "supporting an indie"
They pay for the outcome. Make ten versions of the post that described the outcome they already wanted.
The marketing is the same machine as a free app, Alma on a schedule, with a stricter promise. If you cannot say the promise in one line, do not buy ads to spread a vague one.
