Hooks for a Gratitude Journal App
September 30, 2026 · 4 min read
Gratitude prompts make some people feel managed. If that is your app, the hook has to leave room for a bad day.
See how Alma automates this

- "One thing that was fine. Not the best day of your life."
- "You can skip the day you have nothing polite to say."
- "Name a person, a meal, or a place. Concrete, not 'the universe.'"
- "A list you reread on a worse day. That's the feature."
- "No need to perform it for anyone."
- "The small version: the bus was on time."
- "If gratitude feels fake, call it a notice. What did you notice?"
- "Three lines is the max. We will not ask for ten."
Do not correct their feelings
Avoid "turn that frown around" energy. The people who need a record of ordinary good things are often tired. A small prompt respects that. A demand to be thankful does not.
