How to Reduce Churn in the First 30 Days
September 30, 2026 · 5 min read
People leave in the first month because the app was not what the post promised, or because setup was a second product.
Make the first screen the promise
If the slideshow said "log today's dinner," the app opens on logging dinner. A tour of twelve features is how day one ends. Alma should be posting that same promise, so the people who arrive are expecting the screen you built. $29/month for 500 slides, or $199/month with no cap.
Make the posts for your app
Paste your App Store or website link. Alma writes, designs and schedules the slideshows.
Start in MakeAsk for one job, then stop
One habit, one project, one invite. You can offer more after they have finished something. Empty accounts with six half-setups churn.
Remind them of the job, not of your brand
A notification that says the next action. Not "we miss you." If they did the thing, say what is next. If they did not, say the one step.
Look at the day they vanish
The screen before the exit is the bug or the boring part. Fix that screen. A win-back email will not repair it.
Stop attracting the wrong person
A vague post brings people who wanted a different app. They churn and they review you. Repeat the specific post. Delete the cute one that brought tourists.
