Hooks for a Website Blocker App
September 30, 2026 · 4 min read
Blockers sound hostile. The hook should feel like a decision the person already made, applied to the hour they usually lose.

The short report on how Alma turns an app link into posts that go out every day.

- "Block the one site. Leave the rest of the internet alone."
- "The hour after dinner, locked before dinner starts."
- "A password a friend keeps until morning."
- "You can unblock. It should take longer than the urge."
- "Work apps stay. The feed goes."
- "A block that survives you deleting it in the moment, if that is actually how yours works."
- "Sunday night, when you open the thing you said you were done with."
- "The lock you set on Friday for the exam on Monday."
Be exact about strictness
Some blockers are easy to turn off. Some are not. People get angry when a post implies a hard lock and the app is a speed bump. Say which one you are in the hook. The right user wants that level. The wrong user will review you as if you trapped them.
